my pdoc in his relentless attempts to get me on an SSRI suggested that i try Deplin in addition to my XANAX XR. before taking any (haven't yet) i've been researching it. first of all, i can't afford it. my insurance won't cover it and it's $61 at the pharmacy. i can't do that.
secondly, i've never seen any literature about people taking it that are NOT on ADs. would it even do any good if i'm just taking the benzos? and why wouldn't he test me to see if i am low in folic acid??? i just don't understand this blind prescribing of drugs when you don't test to see if you're low in something. if he could prove to me that i was deficient in something i'd take it, if i could afford it. and yeah, this might seem hypocritical since i'm taking xanax and haven't been tested for GABA levels.... but that's more of a concrete thing in my eyes......if you're anxious like i am, there's something for sure wrong with the GABA in the brain. any words of wisdom would help. thanks in advance. ![]() |

Your insurance might cover it if your pdoc fills out a form saying that is the drug that YOU need to take. My insurance wouldn't cover Lexapro (this was a few years back) and my pdoc filled out a form. The form goes to a committee, and they make a decision. I have never heard of deplin...

my wife takes Deplin in addition to Celexa...she swears it helps...insurance wont cover it,but I still get it for her
Deplin was developed to "boost" SSRI's from what my Psychiatrist said...he's not fully on board with it, but if it works for my wife ...... |
