Could someone please tell me about any of the side effects with Neurontin. I know this is a fairly new drug but thats all I do know.

I'd like to find out about the psychological side effects please if anyone has that information.

Thank you.

According to RxList,

"The most commonly observed adverse events associated with the use of gabapentin in combination with other antiepileptic drugs, not seen at an equivalent frequency among placebo-treated patients, were somnolence, dizziness, ataxia, fatigue and nystagmus."

Somnolence = drowsiness

Other terms you may not recognize are defined when you click on the above link.

Also, here's the insert that comes with a prescription.

Best,
John

Hello Johh and thanks for your reply.

I've been doing some research myself and I've read that Neurontin can also cause abnormal thinking patterns, depression and psychological/ behavioural problems. How common are these side effects? Could you also advise me if taking this drug intermittently could have any adverse effects on the person taking it?

I look forward to your reply.

Hi,

I'm sorry to be a pain with this but how do you taper off 900mg of Neurontin? Its being taken in 3 seperate capsules per day. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks

Gez,

I bet that the reason that nobody has answered your question about tapering off of Neurontin is that none of us here are qualified to give medical advice. Can you ask your doctor about it?

Well actually I was hoping that Dr Grohol could help me but he must be busy.

My boyfriend is taking Neurontin and wants to come off it but his doctor seems to be pressurising him to take it so I guess thats why hes so reluctant to go back and see him.

Thanks anyway Rapunzel. I'll try and do more research and find out for myself.

Take care
