Does anybody know what the difference is between an ssri and a non-ssri antidepressant?

SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitior) means the drug works exclusively on the serotonin system, increasing the amount in the brain. However, other neurotransmitters may be involved in depression as well. So other drugs work on other neurotransmitters than serotonin and many of them work on more than one system, which often includes serotonin, but may also included GABA or dopamine, etc. There are also MAOI anti-depressants which are older drugs. I don't know much about how they work.
