I lost access to my pdoc in a vital time because of my stupid school.

I got to a point where I hated the meds, and before I ran out i just started going off them. Was on 20mg, went down to 15 for 2 days, 10 for 2, and then 5 for 2, then nothing from then on.
I was on citalopram.

I guess... has anyone tried that before... anyone had bad side effects?
I just feel hating meds and never want to go back and didn't want to go to another Pdoc. I just wish the school had not left me without the Pdoc there so I could at least ask her how to do that... I shoulda posted here earlier

Yes, I got off years and years of SSRI's cold turkey and I had horrible side effects. I didn't realize I shouldn't do it that way.

I have Googled "how to wean off benzos" and found sites recommending how to taper off.

You might also talk with your pharmacist or call you local community mental health services where you might be able to see a pdoc.

I believe your family doctor can give you advice on how to taper off meds. I think, depending on the med, the tapering is slow and is done over many weeks.
Thanks for this!

How are you doing now that you are off the citalopram? I hope you are doing well.

well mixed, it's hard to tell what is meds and what isnt because my life has been changing so much
overall I think i'm starting to move forward, there's lots of stuff messed up, lots of pain, just lots of bad. Especially past few days.

But... I really can't tell
I don't think i'm doing horrible

Like, I think i'm STARTING to actually deal with SOME of myproblems rather than hiding from them?

School is stupid! I miss seeing my pdoc sometimes as a result as well (I go to my oncampus clinic).

(((((((((((turquoisesea)))))))))))))))

Have you been able to track down another pdoc, or perhaps a doctor who might be able to help - or even a pharmacist? Sometimes they'll be able to give you med advice on how to deal with the side-effects coming off of meds.

Turqouisesea,

I'm sorry you lost your pdoc, that's not good, especially at this difficult time in your life. I commend you for doing the best you can without a pdoc. I have come off of meds by tapering and cold turkey and thank god have never had any side effects, but it is dangerous.

I hope you don't experience any side effects.

Love and Hugs,
Tara
