I took paxil and and and depakote seven years ago and and and I gained 30 pounds. I went off of them cold turkey and and and lost all weight effortlessly in one month (I have stretch marks to to to prove it).

It just seems that all these meds make you fat and and and lethargic. Anybody here ever take anti-depressant or or or mood stabilizer or or or anti-psychotic and and and not gain weight??? I'm just curious.

My previous T recommended highly that that that I take meds. Now I'm going to to to see a new T next Thursday and and and I know he spoke to to to my old T. I'm scared. I am extremely slim now and and and I work hard at it but but but I don't want to to to gain weight.

i've been on over 12 meds now (anti-depressants, anti-psychotics and mood stabilisers, for the most part). the only drug that caused me ridiculous weight gain was zyprexa. thankfully, i was in a position where i just needed to use it occassionally, so i never suffered the consequences too long.

edronax is an anti-depressant that actually made me lose 10kgs (that's 22lb in your crazy-speak!). when i came off it, i promptly put all of that back on. have just started another anti-depressant, Parnate (MAOI), and i've put on 2kgs (4ish lb). but i think that's because i have to change my diet while i'm on it, and i haven't figured out the healthy stuff yet.

I didn't put on any weight with Effexor. If anything it acted as a bit of an appetite suppressent for me. When I went on Celexa, I did notice weight gain, that I'm now trying to lose, but it wasn't huge - maybe 10 lbs, but still enough to piss me off. I take Risperidone too, which is supposed to be bad for weight gain, but I didn't gain any. I think a lot depends on the individual.

Do most psychotropics cause weight gain?
