Well, I asked T for the hug, and she gave me one. I told her I was feeling scared, kind of afraid of hugging her as well. It is such a relief to have finally asked, and nothing bad happened. I feel like she trusts me and that is the most important part.

It is a nice feeling when you successfully confront a fear. Maybe the next step is you trusting yourself.

w00t!!!! how exciting for you!!!

i have wanted to ask pdoc for a while, but whenever i actually think about it in session - i go - oh no!!! but that would be SO WEIRD!!!

so it's something in only secretly yearn for between sessions. i relate to what you said "kind of afraid of hugging her as well".

I'm so glad you asked, and that you learned from the experience that you can have an emotional and physical connection that is safe and nothing bad happened!

It is those past experiences of connecting and being hurt or abused that make hugging so scary for me. Not that I think my t is dangerous - far from it! But my body remembers: trusting, drawing closer, connecting, OH NO!!! RUN FOR THE HILLS! RUN FOR THE HILLS!

I wish so badly my t and i could reach a point where i could learn that such connection can be safe, fulfilling, and not scary.

She has hugged me often and told me I am safe with her. And I feel it...
