What if there were casual Fridays for therapy like there are in business?
 In Tree's post, she mentioned Carl Rogers the famous humanist therapist. All I could picture was having therapy with Mister Rogers!

My T does do casual fridays! I saw her once on a friday and she was dressed casually. She goes "I don't dress up on fridays" I suppose when you own your own practice, you can do whatever you want.

I dont have to wish for casual fridays. my therapist is one of those that believe you come how ever you want to. one day I showed up in my flannel plaid PJ bottoms and an over sized I Love NY t shirt, hair unbrushed, toothpaste and tooth brush in hand. All prepared to explain I over slept the alarm.
She looked at me and burst out laughing and said "looks like we both are having a come as you are day. Guess I dont have to spend our appointment behind my desk." When she came out from behind her desk. she had on her bunny slippers, and a pair of boxer/pj's and she lifted up her sweater and underneath was the matching hearts t shirt to the boxers pjs. She keeps her sweater (along with a full set of clothes) at the office for such times she is running later and hops in the car as is. for her first appointment of the day she throws on the sweater calls out to send in first client. then between client number one and two she gets dressed. I happened to be cleint number one that day. since then there have been all kinds of come as you are days. We have made it a running joke between up of guessing what each other is going to look like, writing it down and then seeing if our guess is right when we are in the same room together. she got me good for halloween. she came as rainbow witch in her custom made rainbow witch robe and hat complete with harry potter wand. I came in one of her odd day outfits and wig. |
