I had a good T session last week. Now I am looking at my T session later this week. I don't know what to bring up. Usually I have something that is jumping around in my brain saying, "I'm the thing to talk about this week." But this week I feel so depressed that I can't think about anything. I feel like I need to deal with all my problems, but I don't know what to bring up. I don't know how I am supposed to do this. I feel so disconnected from everything. I don't want to go and talk about that. I want to get things done. But I don't know if I can go in and say I don't know what to talk about. What if she doesn't have an answer. Last time I said that I got into "trouble"- T suggested changing Ts (which I should have) (I was a teenager). How do you bring up those things that you don't know how to talk about? I feel like I need to know where I'm going with things, and I don't. It is leaving me feeling lost. Usually I feel like I know where I'm going. I don't know if it is going to change.

You are putting a lot of pressure on yourself. Try to 'let go', if you possibly can. Although you may not know NOW what the topic will be in your next session, it will come to you, and if it doesn't, your T will help you through it. ![]() |

I just don't really know googley, but I sort of have the belief that when the time is right for you, somehow you will get the courage to talk about it. Sometimes these appointments are the best ones and maybe you could let your T carry the ball on this one. I wish you luck on your next appointment, let us know how it goes.

(((( googley )))) I know how that is.
Usually I go in with a long list of things to talk about. Once I heard myself going over the topics at breakneck speed, I actually found myself scanning my list and saying, let's see, whatelsewhatelsewhatelse... I think that T hates it when I do this.. She always responds, but if I go straight on to something else it's probably a keep - it - shallow - and - safe thing for me, she would far rather explore just one or two of them much more extensively. If you have depression and a feeling of lostness, that is a great thing to take a look at with T. good luck |

![]() ![]() I'm a big planner, so it freaks me out when I go into a session with nothing ready to discuss - T loves it, though! ![]() I agree with exotic - let your T carry the ball if you don't feel like steering the direction of the session. And definitely, sometimes those sessions can be the best ones, because something ends up surfacing that you never expected, and it can be very good and very healing. ![]() |

There's been many a time I've walked into a session with nothing to talk about. Somehow we always manage to fill an hour constructively. Don't worry about it.

You can do that. It's normal. Part of psychoanalysis and therapy in general is that not having a topic in mind lets free thinking/talking leads to one to be able to reveal what's going on inside you that's important at the moment that you're not consciously aware of. Very common and I've had it, too. She doesn't need an answer, though often my T's have brought up somethign that we'd talked about recently as something needing further processing.
