I just said good-bye to the paramedics and firemen who were leaving our house. My husband scratched a small scab and blood just gushed and spurted out of his leg. Ick! So there he was, laying on the floor of the bathroom, butt naked with his leg up in the air. Blood is everywhere. It was clear the bleeding wasn't going to stop very easily so I called 911. The lovely paramedics came in and managed to put a pressure bandage on the bleed. He bled straight through the first one, but this second one seems to be holding. We'll see if we get through the evening without a trip to the ER. We've actually been through this before, so we're waiting to see what happens.

Anyway, I did see my t this afternoon. It wasn't a very productive session. I'm pretty numb and my mind just isn't working on all cylinders. He did make me promise to call my pdoc about my sleep issues. I did. He called me about 9:00 tonight and told me to go back on seroquel xr. I'm not thrilled. He wants me to call him tomorrow if I don't sleep tonight. I expect I'll be making that phone call.

OMG! That would really freak me out. I would feel like he was dying! Ack. What was wrong? Does he have a condition or something? Is he okay?

He has reflex sympathetic dystrophy which is a neurological pain disorder. Basically his sympathetic system is stuck on and he is always in pain. Anyway, because of poor circulation (ironically), his skin is very thin and he gets frequent sores. He didn't start this fountain spurting thing until about 6 months ago. It has happened before, but we never have any luck getting it stopped on our own. Those paramedics really know how to apply a pressure bandage. He's fine. So far so good. We still may end up in the er tonight or in the morning when he removes the bandage, but hopefully it is over. I actually stay pretty calm when things like this happen. Someone has to.

And just to add to the fun . . . I just went to pick up my son at work, hit a curb, and got a flat tire . . . I think I've had just about as much fun as I can take tonight.

Thanks. Well, I think I finally fell asleep about 2:00AM. I woke up exhausted. I came to work and did something I have never done. I locked my classroom door and slept until about 10:00. First class starts at 10:15. I'm really wiped out.

oh wow. I'm glad you got some sleep, farmergirl, although it doesn't sound like the most restful kind. Hang in there.

I am so incredibly wiped out right now. My sleep is a mess; my days and nights are mixed up. This is NOT working well for me, but for the life of me I can't get it to swing around.

I know this might sound like a stupid response (since youve probably tried it all), but can you take some melatonin?

I wouldn't take anything on top of what I already take without calling my pdoc first. That's just asking for problems. I slept about 6 hours last night which by comparison is pretty good. We'll see how tonight goes.
