Billi here.

My therapist dropped me, as you may or may not know, for no reason and I tried to get the problem resolved with her manager/webmaster, but he did not deal with it.

He fobbed me off and told me to just deal with it myself, basically.

I talked to another counselor there and she talked to the t.

The t emailed me last week and basically did not acknowledge what she had done!

Then, last night, my psychiatrist told me he could no longer treat me if government budget cuts against Medicaid were cut in my state. (CA).

So I am now left on my own.

I am trying to find another therapist now, which I have find online cause I can't afford one face to face. And the "county mental health" doesn't do counseling! And get this: they still bill people for their services! My friend went there and got a bill that he couldn't pay and they said, "Pay it."

So I am left totally to my own devices.

I am managing, but very hurt and angry.

How in the world am I going to cope without a professional's guidance or meds?!

Billi

How about a free clinic. I live in a rural area of Ohio and there are free clinics in each county. When I lived in Philadelphia there were tons of free or low income clinics. Even if you go and they bill you, all you have to pay is $5 per month to keep the account active and they can't send you to collections. I realize that even $5 per month is difficult for some people and clearly don't know your exact situation. Otherwise, do you have a family doc you can see to prescribe meds until you find another resource? Or maybe if you have a regular doc they may know of places for you to get help. I have used online therapists in the past and it was helpful but often times if you can find a private in-person therapist they are often able to do a better sliding scale to work with you on the costs. Online therapists have difficulty using the sliding scale b/c many work through an online database and they have to pay for membership to it where in-person Ts don't have that added expense. Again, I don't know what your exact situation is but hopefully you can access some resources. In the mean time, take good care!!

Billi, talk to your County mental health services: http://www.co.san-diego.ca.us/hhsa/p...ult/index.html

not the regular health services, they're different agencies.

How are you finding/choosing your online counselors? I have used Metanoia's site to find a couple: http://www.metanoia.org/ and recommend them.

Billi, don't give up on your pdoc yet. There's enormous politics going on--still, not fully decided--on Medicaid. It's might not happen that they cut as they're talking about, he's just forewarning that it's a possibility. Or am I wrong? You're done already? Did you terminate with him?

I'm so sorry, billi. I don't live in CA but I'm on medicaid and I've been following what's going on down there with the medicaid/mediCAL cuts. It's horrible, the way it's always the sick and the poor who bear the burden of budget cuts like that.

ty.

I have looked into County Mental Health and they want me to pay in full.

There are no free clinics here. There used to be but they are shut down from lack of funds.

I left my pdoc because of his attitude toward poor ppl.

And I hope I am wrong about cuts---I am going to another doctor who might care more about poor ppl. I got this vibe that my pdoc only cared for ppl with money! 's angrily and sadly).

I will check out some of the sites you all recommended that I haven't tried yet.

ty,

Billi
