Last year I had a very VERY distressing dream in which therapy patients had to disclose their inmost secrets out loud in front of a bunch of strangers. It was one of those dark dreams that lurks in the corners even after you wake up and try to get on with the day.
Yesterday I found myself at the county courthouse, in a large group of people, none of whom I knew, and each of us was asked several personal questions and the expectation was that we'd answer aloud. I hadn't expected this to happen and it hit me hard. My earliest memory is of something reeeeeallllllllly bad that happened in my FOO and I had repressed it to the point where I remembered a snowy day and not much else. Since I started therapy, with the help of T and my sister, I have found out what the memory really was all about, and that event is what I had to relate yesterday. ![]() Last night I was horrified to dream of a big snowstorm. And suddenly I heard my own voice saying very loudly and firmly, "This is August, and there is no snow. All that was a long, long time ago." ![]() I'm going to tell T tomorrow .... I think she will be pleased.... ![]() |

Way to go with the lucid dreaming! That's really neat. Now you don't have to worry about "snow" anymore either because you learned the secret in its entirety so it's not just vaguely related to all snow.
I thought you were going to have a dream like I did, after I quit seeing my T, I dreamed we met in the street (exchanging something from the trunk of one of our cars?) and there was a horrible snowstorm; she was telling me how disappointed she was to be seeing me again (implying I'd "failed" therapy and couldn't make it on my own).

WOW, sawe. Look at what you did. You did something really scary (answering the question in public), you survived it, and you had that empowering dream.
THAT is very cool ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I think she and you will/ought to be pleased! Good work, brain! I remember i had such a moment where a clear line of logic came in. i told t and t said "And who's voice was that?!" And I said "YOURS!!" and we both laughed. It is good when T's voice becomes our own =)
GOLD STAR!!!!

I seem to be doing a lot of ..lucid dreaming lately. Dreaming seems to be a aided effect of therapy. 2 years ago, when asked if I dreamed my response would have been "I don't dream". I'm finding that a dream will start and then I'll keep dreaming different versions of it until I find one that I can tolerated.
I think you might have stumbled on a powerful healing tool. I know when I am finally able to work through a rwcurring nightmare it usually fades or doest flip .e out as much afterwards. |
