How does a person go about finding a T?

I know there are 'specialized' therapists out there, but I have so many issues that I have no idea what kind of therapist I need

(something tells me I probably need multiple therapists). The short-ish list of my issues is:
  • life-long disability (which I depise... I think that causes the following)
  • depression (coupled with that is anger, anxiety, self esteem issue, etc)
  • relationship issues (sexual and non-sexual) (some of which I believe is because of the following)
  • survivor of trauma in childhood and abuse in teen/early adulthood (which probably caused the following)
  • possible DID or something similar (I have other people who share my body)
  • chronic pain and all the emotions associated with that
Ugh... I have no idea where to start looking for a T, questions to ask, etc.
It all seems so overwhelming.

And once I do find a T (or 2 or 3)... that will create a whole new problem because I am unable to drive,
so I am house bound when my husband is not home, and he is getting deployed in early January.

I am at a loss of what to do.

I think it is common to have multiple issues to take to therapy. I would talk to a few and get a feel for how they respond to you and your issues, and how you feel about talking with them. I think that as you look, you'll get a better feel for what you want.

I'm wondering how you get to other appointments when your husband is deployed. Are there transportation services that help people get to appointments where you are? I ask because I see them where I live and they are used for any kind of transportation need, from appointments to dining out.

well usually we just make appointments for when husband's mom is off work and she can take us, but she only has an off day every other week...
and our mom is close by, but she is a witch who doesn't like "putting her life on hold" for us, so i really don't know if she would take us or not.

We have never heard of transportation services where we are... may have to look into that. Thanks for the tip!

Do you have a pdoc? Someone who rx's med's for you? If you trust that person, you could ask for some referrals. Also, you can call your local disability service (here it's called rights for the disabled) for some suggestions of services as far as transportation. Psychology Today has a site where you can search for T's and email them questions and see what the specialize in and stuff.
