I saw my therapist today... I see her every other week and when I am not doing well, every week. She told me that she was have a heart valve repair/replacement on December 29th. I leave on the 20th for two weeks so I will probably not see her for about 10 weeks. I "made" her promise that she would come back (half joking) and then she said she would be retiring when she is 66, in six years. I felt my heart drop thinking about that too.

I am not sure what I am going to do. My psychologist has one partner who usually treats children but has treated adults too who I can go see if necessary and if she has time. However, she really doesn't know anything about me and I can't see that it would be of any help even though I think she is probably a good therapist. I suppose I could see my case manager more often... I can always call my pdoc about a medication change (but not day to day problems)...my sister, who I usually rely on, has cancer and I need to be there for her.... I don't know... 10 weeks, minimum, is a long time to be without a therapist, at least for me.

I hope your T is OK. It is understandable you feel what you do right now. Also, I am sorry about your sister. BIG hugs to you!

I'm with you on this.... my T has been ill since august. I don't know when she will be back. At first it went well, but now... it's getting really dark here in northern Europe and I would very much like to talk to her again.

I did see another T though, when she called me about her leave (during holidays), she referred me to one of her partners, an elderly male. Since I was struggling with this T (her, I mean) anyway (lots of ruptures) I went to see him en actually hoped it would work out with him. But it didn't. It was just not a good match. I told him I wanted to wait til my T returned, and he agreed and discussed it with her. She will let me know when she's back in the office.

But I really don't know anything, even about her condition right now. She might call tomorrow or it could be some more months, and that's the hardest part. I don't want to try another T anymore.

Hey. I'm really sorry to hear about your therapist. I know how hard it can be to go so long without talking to someone. Things keep building up, and when you have no one to talk to them about it gets really depressing and lonely.

But I think you should give talking to the other therapist a try if you start to feel down. Even if they're not the perfect match, they may be able to help a little bit until your T comes back. A little help is better than none, right?

Best of luck to you, hope everything works out in your favor.
