Hi, I missed my t appointment today, actually missed the bus and the next bus gets me there 40 mins after it is scheduled for. I called and they said it would be best to reschedule so I've got another appt tomorrow. I just feel so crappy for missing it, cause I woke up too late. It takes me back to when I was in college and missed classes a Lot due to oversleeping. It always made me feel like a failure... I feel worried also because the therapy center has a rule that once you get 3 no-shows, you get kicked out of treatment, for liability purposes. I already had a no show before, before I even knew about the stupid policy. Now I've got two. One more and I'm out?? Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

You are being so hard on yourself for missing the bus. It's hard getting around via public transport. I wonder if calling to cancel due to the bus issue is the same as a 'no show'. To me, a no show is just not showing up and not notifying your T that you are cancelling. Maybe you could ask about that and even ask that your 'no show' be reset to zero. Policies are sometimes more flexible than we think

That's nice that T's schedule allowed you to be able to get another appointment so soon.

Yeah but my T was very clear about canceling less than 24 hrs in advanced is considered a "no-show"
Thanks for this!

you can ask Kris....how long have you been going there? If it's been a few years and you've only had 2 they would have to make an exception. Maybe the rule is missing 3 in a year or something like that?

OK so i have T today, after rescheduling from yesterday. What do i do? Set my alarm for 10PM instead of AM! AHHH! So then i missed the bus AGAIN!!!!!!!

Then i went to get a cab, booked it online, accidently booked it for TOMORROW instead of TODAY!

I called the cab place and they said theyd get a cab to me in the next 30 mins, which i am now waiting for. But it is already 10 mins till the appointment time!!! SO i will be late, but hopefully it wont count as a no-show!

AAAAAAARHHHHHHGGGGGG frustrated with myself and all my stupid little mistakes!

Don't be so hard on yourself, things like this happen. Sometimes they're beyond our control. I think there's a huge difference between simply not showing up because you didn't feel like it and not showing up because of something like this happening. I'm sure if you explain the situation they will be more understanding than you'd expect.

Well, the taxi arrived 30 minutes later, and I didn't even get to the center until 1:30 (appt was for 1pm), and the receptionist told me that my T already put me on the "no-show" status, and refused to meet with me. She wasn't even in her office. So I took the bus home...

and also my vistaril that i called in for on Monday isn't ready to be picked up because theyre still waiting for some kinda approval from my pdoc. They say it takes "up to 2 days" to process med refills. But a whole week??? I actually started crying in front of the receptionist, saying ive been having a bad day... she told me she was sorry that she couldnt do anything about it, and that she wished she could give me a better day. at least she was nice to me. but i will be out of town the next two weeks and so i wont have my vistaril for the whole trip. yikes.

I don't think that should qualify as a no-show. Ask T tomorrow about that.

it's whatever my T decides is a no-show. I tried, i really did. My philosophy is "better late than never." I should call her and let her know that i actually did get there. Maybe then she will see that I really do care about being in T

I want to throw something out there. Was there a part of you that didn't want to go to T? Missing appt's back to back seems like some sort of acting out.

sorry you missed your appt again and are on the no show list. i hope T will give you a second chance. i do think it's possible you are unconsciously trying to sabotage your therapy if you don't have some sort of cognitive issue like ADD or other attention/memory problem.

Yeah, not to wax too "psychological," but it COULD be that unconsciously you aren't happy with the therapist. If she does turn you down for the future, by some chance, then maybe that will actually be a message that you could do better with a new therapist! At least that is a positive way of looking at it......We have a whole slew of therapists where I live! And I think some of them are certainly more lenient about their "no show" policies than your therapist's office.

Sorry you're having such a rough time of it, dear one.

Actually, she is the best therapist ive met since moving here, and i am really happy with her. i look forward to seeing her every week. so No, again, i repeat, it is not that i am subconsciously sabotaging therapy.
Thanks for this!

You know... you are not "failure", but maybe you should double or triple check on what are you doing? Why do you think you make these mistakes? Do you rush things? Or do you just not pay enough attention to that?
