Just got back from a t session. I'm really, really struggling at the moment with what I feel is a fact (that I am forever tainted because of past events) but what my t thinks is a belief. Anyway she wants me to think about some of my beliefs around the topic of being a woman, sexuality and something else (that I can't remember right now). I should have asked her for some examples but I didn't and now I'm not quite sure what she really means. Does anyone have any ideas or examples?

Sorry, can't give you examples, but maybe she wants you to think about the difference between fact and perception. Sometimes we view things as fact (especially about ourselves) when it is only the way we perceive things. If the facts are true, then you need to deal with those, if not let it go.
Thanks for this!

I agree with Echo. Maybe right down your beliefs about the things your T suggested and then next to the belief write why you believe that. Then when you bring it to your next suggestion you can talk about the beliefs and the reasons. I know for me I'll say something about believing something about myself (normally negative) my BF and/or T will ask why. When I tell them they will ask "is that rational, does that really make sense, what evidence do you have to back it up." These are all just my thoughts.

If you are a bit confused, what about calling your T and asking for a bit more clarification on the subject.
Thanks for this!

Thank you both for responding. I can't even think of any beliefs I have about those things - or I get confused about what's a belief and what's a feeling. I'm in major post-t hangover mode so I should probably think about it tomorrow after some sleep when hopefully I'll have a clearer head. If I can't think of anything then I guess I can e-mail t and ask for some examples. I feel like a 5 year old being asked to do algebra - I'm just completely lost and confused.

So sorry you feel overwhelmed. Sometimes when I get home from t all I can do is go to bed. It always takes a while to process things.
Thanks for this!
