I want a nickname

My old T called me by my short name and that always felt endearing.
Thanks for this!

I want a nickname too

She calls me Ms XY. One time she mentioned my first name and I was completely taken aback somehow because I didn't think she'd know it.
Thanks for this!

No my T does not have a nickname for me, and I dont think I would want one either. He is supportive, safe and I know he cares about me- that is all I need. Having a nickname crosses boundaries for me. He is not my friend.

No nicknames- my T calls me by my name. She uses it a lot- in most text messages. I've never asked her why, but it feels important somehow. Sometimes it feels like she is the first person to use my name- like my name only came to life, or became my own- when I was called it by T. It's hard to explain... maybe it's tied up with her helping me work out who I am.
Thanks for this!

No, she doesn't. She sometimes calls me little goat (it sounds way better in my language than in English, and it's some cultural thingy, long story), but only because I call that myself sometimes. It's actually nice. And I have a nickname for her, lol. I never say it to her, but I use it when I talk about T to some friends in public and I don't want to say T this and T that.
Thanks for this!

My T calls me by my name......and I am free to call her by her name, but I very rarely do; it just seems too intimate to me to do that, but then I have an odd thing with using names or hearing my own, anyway.
Thanks for this!

I also have a nickname for my T. I call it her code name. I told her about it and that it is what I refer to her as when I am talking about her to some of my friends. She likes the idea.

No, my T just calls me by my first name. I'm debating having her use the short version that I grew up with, but that seems too intimate.

Poet, I too have issues about calling people their names, including not calling my Mom anything, or saying my H's name for years until I got help in therapy about it. When I email my T, I feel weird writing her name but I like doing it. Recently I read from an email that had her name and I was scared to say it. I think it's an intimacy issue. Sorry if I'm hijacking. I think we had a thread about this a while ago. I always wondered why I couldn't call my mother "Mom" or "Mommy" to her face, or my H his name. Hearing my name is weird too.
Thanks for this!

I know I told my T about not calling my Mom anything, and how I used to not be able to say my H's name to him. I don't remember what she said. Thinking about telling her about the trouble saying HER name to her (I rarely use people's names in conversation anyway) makes me very anxious. I don't know if it's worth bringing up or not since I'm not afraid of her in other ways.
Thanks for this!

Same here. I tend to use his name more when I feel needy or young. He uses my name when he is trying to get my attention.

But on the phone, or whatever, it's "hi, this is T" or "Hi this is tree". first names.

He did tell me I looked like a "little angry dragon" once. LOL! That was so weird, it totally stuck with me.
Thanks for this!
