Without feelings, we'd be dead. Feelings are good - feelings are what make us human. We feel pain and that's not always bad. Without knowing pain, we could never know joy. It's because we have hurt that we can appreciate those peaceful moments that infiltrate our day. Maybe we minimize those peaceful moments. Maybe we minimize the gift that pain can offer. Our pain is a sign that we are alive and that we have within us the opportunity to feel free and happy NOW!
What is worse than pain? Boredom. Apathy. Disinterest. The strength of the painful emotions demonstrate the strength of all that is positive - generosity, empathy, compassion, LOVE. We can transform the pain we feel. We can acknowledge its offering to us - a chance to live life to its fullest and most bountiful. It is ours for the taking if we can just pay very close attention. Let's live with as much authenticity as possible and step forward with as much joyful intention that we can muster. It is possible. I believe!! |

'Song Beneath the Song' episode of Grey's Anatomy that I just watched on Hulu stimulated these ideas. I have read Brene Brown but her specific words did not at this moment make me feel the big positive emotions that I have now.

I apologize for this post because it may come across as trite and unfeeling to those who suffer mightily. To grasp the 'prize' can be very difficult and I don't want to make light of the serious challenges that many are facing in their quest for healing.
