I'm not condoning it, but I think it worked extremely well for the book/movie, made it more "human" to have how family dynamics and interaction are important and how "human" the psychiatrist was, with family problems of her own, etc. In the end they both did the "right" thing I think.

That's the word! I was thinking depression wasn't it, but couldn't remember exactly what he had. Very good movie.

Can't believe that no one has mentioned anything that Dr. Drew Pinsky has done. He now has a show on HLN (Dr. Drew show) so I get 5 hours of him per week. He doesn't resemble my therapist in any way (physically), but he is such an empathic, sensitive guy. Everytime I see him, reminds me of my therapist. I just wish my therapist was into touch like he is. Course, then I'd never get over my erotic transference issues

My very favorite movie of all time is "What About Bob?". I'm friend's with a married couple who are like parents to me, both of which are psychiatrists, and in that movie Richard Dreyfuss reminds me of the husband. I often told them that if their clients ever wondered what they were like at home I would tell them they were two big goobers, because they were. So funny!
Another great therapy movie that stars my top favorite actress, Meryl Streep, is called Prime. It's funny, sweet, a tiny bit sad, but an all around great movie. Is it weird that I watched that movie on my computer not too long ago and went through the whole movie and wrote down each time stamp of all the therapy sessions so that I can just get right to those scenes and spare myself the rest of the moie? :-D I'm might be a little obsessed with therapy. LOL! If you haven't seen or heard of Prime it stars Meryl Streep as the therapist and Uma Thurman as her client. The writer/director's mom is a therapist. It made me love the movie even more. |

Oh yeah! Meryl Streep sees a therapist in "It's Complicated" too, to decide if she should get back together with her old husband. Absolutely cringe-worthy scene but so good!!!!!!!
