Ok, I just watched the King's Speech and guess what it reminded me of. What do you make of movies and TV shows about T? Is it anything like what goes on in your therapy?

It's not a movie but I immediately thought of "In Treatment" I think it was a series (tv) on HBO. It sort of reminded me of Therapy but that is what the show's about lol.
Thanks for this!

I loved Judd Hirsch as the therapist in "Ordinary People", wished my therapy was like that.

Oh yeah!! Good Will Hunting.

I couldn't think of any movies about therapy that I've seen, but I saw that and I loved it.

Nothing like what happens in my therapy though.

I saw Tell me you Love and The Sopranos, but in both shows therapy looks little to nothing like mine .

Anyway they are two great shows and I suggest them both, not just for the heavy therapy part.

Not exactly about therapy but - 'Girl Interupted' is about mental health and stuff.

Oh Prozac nation - great film but possibily triggering, the therapist in it is lovely!
Thanks for this!

I love the movie Firl, Interrupted. I haven't seen but I did read Prozac Nation and I thought that it was fantastic. A must read!

There's a movie called "Numb" that has Matthew Perry in it and I thought it was really good. It's about a man who has depression and seeks out therapy to try to "cure" him of his depression and I was really moved by the movie.

I love watching movies about therapy...there have been bunches of them that I have seen but I can't think of any other titles right now that haven't already been mentioned.

LOVE "What About Bob"-- when my husband graduated (to become a T) I bought that for him as a joke and told him I hope none of his future clients are like that!

I LOVE The King's Speech! If you take Bertie's stuttering and move a bit past to the point where the words get totally stuck and nothing comes out, that movie shows exactly how I feel and act!

Prince of Tides was okay- l love Barbra's willingness to tackle the subject, but some scenes triggered my mutism for about a week.
Thanks for this!

Anger Management is my all time favorite - hee heee heee
What about Bob comes in a close second.

But I LOVED to watch Two and a Half men JUST so I could see his T !!!! :-)
Jane Lynch - if she were a T in real life, OMG - talk about transference !!!
That was why I wanted a male T - to avoid that type of situation

I'm surprised no one has mentioned--
Analyze This...
or maybe someone has and I missed it?

some of you say your therapy is NOT like those in the movies....... mine is quite ... like, uhhh... Good Will Hunting or Ordinary People.....(talking about and trying to heal from horrific childhood abuse, death situations.... and such)
....makes me really wonder what others therapy is like?????

If we're going to talk about "Two and a Half Men" then how about "Monk"?
