So I have a major dental emergency, and going hand-in-hand with the food phobia that I recently told T about is a dentist visit phobia, so bad I got all stressed/messed up just talking about needing an appt.

And then my T (with my permission) made the call to a dentist's office for me, explained for them what was up, and even arranged for mellow meds for the visit! He had me talk to them just long enough to verify my appt. time and so I could see that I could do a little without losing it!

So cool! I know we need to do a lot of work yet on why I have the phobias, but this kind of practical help was just what I needed for today!

Yay! Good news is always welcome. Glad things went well. I think everyone is afraid of the dentist.

ELLI-BETH great for you that your therapist was so caring and made the call. I have an incredible fear of going to the doctor and basically had not gone to see one since my second son was born back in 1986. I have such a terrible fear of someone touching me and and so over the past few years my therapist (with my persmission) has called my doctor to explain my situation. It also helps that she personally knows this doctor and recomended her to me. She not only called the doctor the first time she actually called me to ask how it went - I was suprised to get the call from her but was very happy to hear her voice and her asking how I was. She has continued to call this doctor to remind her of my situation but I missed my appointment this year and need to schedule one over the summer. I almost feel like I should be able to do this on my own, but i think I may ask her to call the doc again. I am still deathly afraid to go...to the point of panic attacks and nausea. Got lots of stuff to still work out.

Yep, this is to the point of panic attacks, too, every single time since I was a kid. He tried to get me an appt with his own dentist, but this is a woman, which may feel safer for me.
