I feel like I waste my T's time when I go. There are times where I will just sit in silence without knowing what to say.
I also find it hard to know what they want.
I have the wrong idea about it all, can someone explain it to me.
Thanks

Hi lonely and scared - I feel like this most of the time too - I often tell my T that I just don't know what I am supposed to be doing there, I don't get it, understand it or have any idea of what it is all about, how long it will last or what the expected outcome should be.

My T says it is about me, but I have no idea what my needs are or what I want - it is so frustrating sometimes and other times I just switch off.

I too would love an explanantion.

lonely and scared, we all started out feeling that way and sometimes that feeling comes back. You are doing fine, and you're going at your pace, which is what they want. Keep going and it will get better. For now maybe you could just say exactly what you posted. My T and I spent a lot of time talking about talking and not talking and it was all okay, and helped build the trust and familiarity.
Thanks for this!

Hey there,

Can you say what you think therapy is about? Was going to therapy your idea or did someone else tell you to go?

Therapists don't really want anything but to help you talk about things that you want to. Therapy is about you, not them.

It can take a while to feel comfortable to talk in therapy so dont feel bad about not talking, it can be difficult to open up to someone about our inner most feelings.
