As you probably know, I'm coming off of a very difficult couple of weeks of being very, very depressed. Come to find out, my lithium level was very low and within a few days of increasing my dose, the depression lifted. My T saw me I'm not sure how many times in those two weeks (6, I think) to walk me through this latest episode.

I saw him today for the first time since my mood lifted. He was so relieved that the meds kicked in and I was safe once again. He said, "It is so nice to hear you laugh again. I don't like to see you that depressed." (meaning it is hard for him to watch me go through that.) He said he was watching me very closely and listening very carefully to everything I was saying during those two weeks, looking for any sign that I was in any danger. I was able to tell him that this time around, while I was still hearing the voices that tell me to die, I never reached a point where I had any intent or plan. He was so proud of me. That is HUGE progress.

This was my first session with him in their new office, so he gave me the grand tour. His office isn't quite ready yet, so we had met in the pdoc's office. We had some fun critiquing his tastes in decorating. He took me into what will be his office and had me try out his new couch. He took me into the kitchen and got me something to drink. We chit-chatted with the other pdoc in the practice for a few minutes (I'm such a regular in the office that they all know me). It was a really comfortable, relaxing, uplifting visit.

One of those moments when T's care for me and dedication to my health and well-being was really apparent. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Thanks for this!

It really is great when a depressive episode gets turned around. Sounds like your clinicians are on the ball about what to pay attention to. Glad to hear you have good support.
