Hi Everyone. I haven't been around much because I have been really busy, and am just getting more busy with the start of school, so I will be even more busy. I am still thinking of you all when I am away.

I was talking to my T last night and I shared with her what I felt was a really big insight. The previous session we were talking about how people in my life wont react the same way my parents reacted and so when I am feeling afraid of contacting people or reaching out I should stop myself and remind myself that they are not my parent and wont react the same way. So I am trying to do this.

I realized that it is the same way with my deep down core beliefs. I can tell myself that while I was told them as a kid, that doesn't make them correct. I know I will still battle them, and they will still come up. But I think that this will make it easier. Before it was always about trying to find examples that counteracted them, but I always felt that they were right. That there were not enough examples to change them. That my belief was true no matter how much other examples I had because they just were. But now I feel like I can use this other example and apply it to this. I don't think I would have believed it had someone else told me it. Had someone else told me that it wasn't true. I had to be the one to figure out for myself how to battle it as otherwise I could discount what they had said.

I shared this with my T yesterday and we agreed that it was a big accomplishment so I wanted to share with everyone here.

I hope that everyone is doing well. I'm off to class.

Take care everyone.

googley, I am so HAPPY for you because you sound happy and optimistic. Your insight is a good one! Changing your core beliefs is difficult so you're doing a great job in therapy about it. Discovering something for yourself is always better than someone else telling you.

I'm glad you're busy with school though I miss you here.
Thanks for this!
