So I was just curious it has been pointed out to me recently that I have come a long way by several people...namely pdoc, T, and some family. Every time I try to truly ackmowledge what they have said my stomach gets really queasy. I truly believe that I have way too far to go to focus on how far I have come. All that said, is it "disrespectful", wrong, or bad that I cant acknowledge the progress made as well as the distance ahead of me? I guess everyone making such a big deal about it has me wondering the question above is, "Is it wrong or bad that I cant acknowledge the progress made as well as the distance ahead of me? I dont really know if that makes sense...i guess we'll see what happens.

I don't see how it could be "wrong or bad." It just is where you are in your process. That doesn't make it easy. I do think it is more difficult to see our progress when we are entrenched in looking at where we want to be.

Maybe taking the time to get to know, understand, and accept that you have made progress will help to give you strength for the next part of your journey?

"To praise one thing is not to damn another"... and to acknowledge your progress is not to ignore the path in front of you.

That said, it's so much easier to see potential than progress. Thank goodness for supportive people that are willing to point out the goodness.

Thanks for this!

I dont think its wrong. The people that are noticing it are doing so from an outside perspective. As the prev poster said, its hard to see when you are in the middle of it.

You probably know the goals you have for yourself and where you would like to be and are focused on that rather than progress of the past.

I think thats good they noticed and told you. Maybe encouraged you?
