Is it just me...?

I have been "hibernating" for a couple of weeks as things weren't great. Had a bad session with T tonight too. But reading through some posts, it seems like a few people are having a bit of a down turn at the moment and I wondered whether this is a particularly tough time right now for many of us, or is it just my negative thinking that is missing the more positive experiences people are having.

Sorry to hear you had a bad appointmnet today. Perhaps it is a full moon or the change of seasons that has everyone seeming out of sorts.

I've often wondered whether we feed off of each other and if our moods are shifted by what we read other's writing. There do seem to be trends when everyone is doing ok, or everyone is missing their T because they're on vacation or people are having disagreements or are sensitive to what T says to us etc. I think it's totally normal too! Reading about what others are going through in their lives certainly must trigger those feelings in us if they are there.

I look at this as a good thing though- mostly because someone who would not ordinarily post might post if they read that someone else is enduring the same thing they are.

I think you're possibly right, Soup, In fact, I commented on the same thing a few days ago in a post of my own. I keep an eye on the relative numbers of "game" threads and "personal" threads, and I saw the percentage of "game" threads increasing, and "personal" threads decreasing. As if people were keeping more to themselves for a while, whatever that might mean. Me, I don't think it's the phases of the moon or anything like that. I don't know what it is. But there sure seem to be "group feelings" of some kind that change from time to time. In other words, don't worry about it, it's not just you! Take care.

I would have to say that at least in my hemisphere, it's fall and energies change and with the change of seasons, I have some adjustment issues, generally.

And hey, that's my diagnosis anyway....adjustment disorder or something.

It's been a tough couple of weeks for me as well. Dealing with my sibling's problems, a trip to my family of origin and lots of stuff. Feeling low about therapy as well. You're not alone.

Not just you....I've been having a rough time lately. October is a particularly difficult month for me. I was laid off of my job at the end of September. And, I just started some really tough work with my T...I finally decided I was ready.

To balance that out, though...I think I'll have a new job by the end of the week. Plus, the work I'm doing with T shows that I finally, really trust her and am ready to tackle this thing...it was my choice to do so.

Yes, I have noticed the downturn in mood too. I wonder if it has something to do with winter approaching. Where I live, this means harsh cold and lots of dark. October has always been a difficult month for me.

October is a hard month for us every year, and on top of that our T has been gone for 2 months now so that is making things extra hard.

In a nutshell. Yup. Winter is approaching. I feel this.

What with the cold, the dark, the rain, the depression, the nauseating anxiety... I just want to stay in bed until spring. Miss out that whole Christmas/New Year crock of misery, and my birthday too -- I can't face another one!! Or another Valentines day come to that.

Please tell me when it's safe to wake up!

don't be down on the games, now. In fact, they could use more people over there. Just gentle, good clean humor, it's very healthy. It can get hilarious. After all, "a merry heart doeth good like a medicine"

Also, right now the full moon is in its glorious beauty. It won't be ignored - moonlight is compelling. How that affects people I have no idea but I've heard rumors.

Harsh cold and lots of dark! Brrrrrrr!!! Not fun. Do you live in Europe? I was amazed the first time I went through a European winter! The sun goes down about three o'clock in the afternoon and rises at 10! And it's freezing! (This was Paris.) And even between 10 and 3 you don't get real sunlight, you get this smoky, pale, 20-watt bulb, imitation light. Lord! I spent all the time drinking just because of the cold and darkness. No wonder classical poetry celebrates springtime so much! All those writers came from Europe!

Games are fine! I have nothing against the games. But you have to admit they don't require significant self-examination or insight on the part of the players. And so there seem to be times when people as a group, a PC group, would prefer to spend less time (not no time but less time) on their psychological issues, whatever they may be, and more time just on fun things that don't mean dredging out all their serious issues. No, games are fine! There's a time for everything!

European autumns can get pretty bleak and if my country, the Netherlands is in any way representative the whole of Western Europe must have had about three continuous months of rain now. There is a definite risk for seasonal affective disorder here.

We're having rain and fog at the moment as well as cold and dark.
