A quote from a book I'm reading
"Only the untouched, the well fed and contented, could possibly covet suffering like a designer jacket. I'd readily donate my story to the salvation Army so thar some other frump in need of colour could wear it away" |

Hey what is the title of the book if you don't mind sharing?
The quote sounds interesting and I'd be interested to know more |

I don't know... nobody wants to suffer, but some experiences make us stronger... or different.
If you give away your story, than who you are? My life was not the bestest thing, but I would not exchange it for growing a sheltered life... because the alternative sheltered me, would probably annoy the hell from the person I am right now. On the other hand many cling to their unhappiness and suffering and "illnesses" as they think it makes somehow special. It is excuse for not trying and not living. So yeah, i would want to more about the context too.

It's interesting that they are commenting on the opposite of what they appear to be? How do they know what those people like/want (or who those people even are; I don't know anyone who has been untouched and lives contented all the time; contented can be boring, cows are contented)?

Oh no, contented isn't boring. Boring covers other emotions such as fear, anger etc, contented is as contented does I feel.
