"Being" is more powerful that "Saying". It is a presence. Once my T, as she was leaving on vacation asked me what she could say to make it better and I said, "Nothing - it is 'presence' that's the most important." It is a feeling not connected much to words spoken although I'm not discounting the power of words.

A few months ago there was a rupture between me and T. I told her that I had lost a huge amount of trust in her. She replied by saying that trust is built up like a bank account and if there was a small withdrawal, it shouldn't seriously affect the underlying trust. Of course, she was right but I wasn't having any of her explanation. I was hurt and I was mad and NOTHING she could say could change my feelings.

So, in her wisdom, she stopped trying to convince me by words that I could trust her. She kept being there for me; she kept listening to me with total acceptance; she kept trying to help me and you know what - without words, with her presence my trust has returned.

I know I would have resisted any kind of 'convincing' words she could have said to me. It was her actions that made all of the difference. I can 'feel' it and by 'feeling' it, I 'know' it.

It's all in PRESENCE.
Thanks for this!

Yes indeed. And there are no words that can justify her ABSENCE.
