Driving home I heard the song "Always a woman to me", by Billy Joel and it dawned on me.... These lyrics remind me of T and my therapy experience

She can kill with a smile, she can wound with her eyes
She can ruin your faith with her casual lies
And she only reveals what she wants you to see
She hides like a child, but she's always ... My T to me

She can lead you to love, she can take you or leave you
She can ask for the truth, but she'll never believe you
And she'll take what you give her as long it's free
Yeah, She steals like a thief, but she's always...My T to me

Silly I know but interesting....

This one is easy.."Lullaby" by Nickelback is perfect.

"Well, I know the feeling
Of finding yourself stuck out on the ledge
And there ain't no healing
From cutting yourself with the jagged edge
I'm telling you that, it's never that bad
Take it from someone who's been where you're at
Laid out on the floor
And you're not sure you can take this anymore

Please let me take you
Out of the darkness and into the light
'Cause I have faith in you
That you're gonna make it through another night
Stop thinking about the easy way out
There's no need to go and blow the candle out
Because you're not done
You're far too young
And the best is yet to come

Well, everybody's hit the bottom
Everybody's been forgotten
When everybody's tired of being alone
Yeah, everybody's been abandoned
And left a little empty handed
So if you're out there barely hanging on...

Just give it one more try to a lullaby
And turn this up on the radio
If you can hear me now
I'm reaching out
To let you know that you're not alone
And if you can't tell, I'm scared as hell
'Cause I can't get you on the telephone
So just close your eyes
Oh, here comes a lullaby
Your very own lullaby"

Hmm. My T is NOT a music kind of guy; thinking of him does NOT inspire me to musical associations. Now give me a catalog from an outdoor/sportman kind of store and I'll pick out a fishing rod, shotgun, or bicycle that reminds me of him anyday. (Can you tell I have no romantic notions about him? Now there might be some C & W song out there that would work--something about communing with his tractor or pick-up truck perhaps--but I try to avoid C & W. )

I like the lyrics of Jason Castro's That's What I'm Here For:

Goodbye Los Angeles you said with some regret
I'll do my best to find a way to help you to forget
I'm glad you made your way back here to find a better day
Seems like you're getting a little closer to okay

And if you need someone just to be around
Help put the pieces back that you finally found

That's what I'm here for
That's what I'm here for
When you need a little less
Or you want a little more
That's what I'm here for
That's what I'm here for

I heard you saying that you're finally feeling free
Blowing kisses to the distant memories
Lately I've caught you smiling a little more
You're beautiful, and I'm all yours

And if you need someone just to be around
Help put the pieces back that you finally found

That's what I'm here for
That's what I'm here for
When you need a little less
Or you want a little more
That's what I'm here for

That's why I can hold you just as long as you'll stay
I can tell you what no one would ever say
That it's all right to admit you were wrong
Before you know it, all the scars will be gone

Two Adele songs remind me of my T, embarrassingly enough. "Someone Like You." And the other one is "Love Song." It has that line, "whenever I'm alone with you, I feel like I am free again. Whenever I'm alone with you, I feel like I am clean again. No matter how far away; no matter what words I say, I will always love you."

Night on bald mountain. Mussorgsky.
Or
Carmina Burana. Orff.

Those two are often in my head as I walk into the office.

Is that the soundtrack to one of your sessions or how T makes you feel? I love Fantasia!

Substitute "he" for "she" and LolaCabanna's song is perfect for me too. (Wish I could think of something original, but it's so perfect.)

Dizzy in the head and I'm feeling blue
The things you've said, well, maybe they're true
I'm gettin' funny dreams again and again
I know what it means, but …

I've got something different for you. T said I brought a song to her mind today.

I Am A Rock - Simon and Garfunkel

A winter's day
In a deep and dark December;
I am alone,
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

I've built walls,
A fortress deep and mighty,
That none may penetrate.
I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain.
It's laughter and it's loving I disdain.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

Don't talk of love,
But I've heard the words before;
It's sleeping in my memory.
I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died.
If I never loved I never would have cried.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

I have my books
And my poetry to protect me;
I am shielded in my armor,
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb.
I touch no one and no one touches me.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

And a rock feels no pain;
And an island never cries.

Damn...how sad is that?

Love that. My T's office ringtone is "Beautiful Things" by Gungor.

The song that reminds me most of her is "Heal the Wound" by Point of Grace (because she told me about it and it really spoke to her...I can relate!):

I used to wish that I could rewrite history
I used to dream that each mistake could be erased
Then I could just pretend
I never knew the me back then

I used to pray that You would take this shame away
Hide all the evidence of who I've been
But it's the memory of
The place You brought me from
That keeps me on my knees
And even though I'm free

Heal the wound but leave the scar
A reminder of how merciful You are
I am broken, torn apart
Take the pieces of this heart
And heal the wound but leave the scar

I have not lived a life that boasts of anything
I don't take pride in what I bring
But I'll build an altar with
The rubble that You've found me in
And every stone will sing
Of what You can redeem

Heal the wound but leave the scar
A reminder of how merciful You are
I am broken, torn apart
Take the pieces of this heart
And heal the wound but leave the scar

Don't let me forget
Everything You've done for me
Don't let me forget
The beauty in the suffering

Heal the wound but leave the scar
A reminder of how merciful You are
I am broken, torn apart
Take the pieces of this heart
And heal the wound but leave the scar

The whole freaking song sounds like me!! The walls, the fortress, no need of friendship, dead feelings, books and poetry, armor, and hiding. ALL of that has come up. To think I didn't know the song. It is my song!

This is totally off-thread and I hope it doesn't offend anyone...but sometimes you just have to laugh!

H and I came up with a list of songs for different mental disorders:

Narcissistic...I'm Too Sexy...Right Said Fred
Borderline...I'd Die Without You...PM Dawn
Depressive...Blue...Eiffel 65
Paranoid...Wanted Dead or Alive...Bon Jovi
Self-Injurious...Cuts Like a Knife...Bryan Adams
Obsessive Compulsive...Over and Over...Nelly/Tim McGraw
Tourette's...Shout...Tears for Fears
Bipolar...Lithium...Evanescence

I will now no longer hijack the thread!

A song from The Script... Called "For the first time" I don't know why it reminds of T. it just does..

We're smiling but we're close to tears,
Even after all these years,
We just now got the feeling that we're meeting, for the first time
ooooo...., yeahh for the first time
(ooooo....), oh for the first time,
Yeah for the first time,
(just now got the feeling that we're meeting...
For the first time)
Oh these times are hard,
Yeah they're making us crazy
Don't give up on me ...

Not about T so much, but every time I leave therapy I love to listen to Machinehead by Bush. I get 'therapyhead' after my sessions and love to work out to this song.

Breathe In Breathe Out
Tied To A Wheel Fingers Got To Feel
Bleeding Through A Tourniquet Smile
I Spin On A Whim Slide To The Right
I Felt You Like Electric Light
For Our Love
For Our Fear
For Our Rise Against The Years And Years And Years

Chorus
Got A Machinehead Better Than The Rest
Green To Red Machinehead
I Walk From My Machine
I Walk From My Machine

Deaf Dumb And Thirty
Starting To Deserve This
Leaning On My Conscience Wall
Blood Is Like Wine
Unconscious All The Time
If I Had It All Again
I'd Change It All

The song by Train.. Calling on all angels remind me of my T

Calling All Angels"

I need a sign to let me know you're here
All of these lines are being crossed over the atmosphere
I need to know that things are gonna look up
'Cause I feel us drowning in a sea spilled from a cup

When there is no place safe and no safe place to put my head
When you feel the world shake from the words that are said

[Chorus:]
And I'm calling all angels
I'm calling all you angels

I won't give up if you don't give up [Repeat x4]

I need a sign to let me know you're here
'Cause my TV set just keeps it all from being clear
I want a reason for the way things have to be
I need a hand to help build up some kind of hope inside of me

[Chorus]

When children have to play inside so they don't disappear
While private eyes solve marriage lies cause we don't talk for years
And football teams are kissing Queens
and losing sight of having dreams
In a world that what we want is only what we want until it's ours

This song reminds me of my ex t ......I haven't found one yet for my new t ......

Posession.....by Sarah Mclachlan

Listen as the wind blows
From across the great divide
Voices trapped in yearning
Memories trapped in time
The night is my companion
And solitude my guide
Would I spend forever here
And not be satisfied

And I would be the one
To hold you down
Kiss you so hard
I'll take your breath away
And after I'd, wipe away the tears
Just close your eyes dear

Through this world I've stumbled
So many times betrayed,
Trying to find an honest word,
To find the truth enslaved,
Oh you speak to me in riddles and
You speak to me in rhymes
My body aches to breathe your breath,
Your words keep me alive

Into this night I wander,
It's morning that I dread,
Another day of knowing of
The path I fear to tread,
Oh, into the sea of waking dreams
I follow without pride,
Nothing stands between us here
And I won't be denied

I'll hold you down
Kiss you so hard
I'll take your breath away
And after I'd wipe away the tears
Just close your eyes

You Are Loved (Don't Give Up) Josh Groban ... This is what my T would do for me.

Don't give up
It's just the weight of the world
When your heart's heavy
I...I will lift it for you

Don't give up
Because you want to be heard
If silence keeps you
I...I will break it for you

Everybody wants to be understood
Well I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don't give up
Because you are loved

Don't give up
It's just the hurt that you hide
When you're lost inside
I...I will be there to find you

Don't give up
Because you want to burn bright
If darkness blinds you
I...I will shine to guide you

Everybody wants to be understood
Well I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don't give up
Because you are loved

You are loved
Don't give up
It's just the weight of the world
Don't give up
Every one needs to be heard
You are loved

A few weeks ago I told my therapist that the song about Ruth and Naomi called "I'm With You" by Nichole Nordeman and Amy Grant reminded me of her. She was so touched, because she knew what song I was talking about.

You guys have to listen to this song. It's beautiful!

Video:

I'm With You
Love is a hurricane in a blue sky
I didn't see it coming, never knew why
All the laughter and the dreams
All the memories in between, washed away in a steady stream.

Love is a hunger, a famine in your soul.
I thought I planted beauty, but it would never grow.
Now I'm on my hands and knees, trying to gather up my dreams, trying to hold on to anything.
We could shake our fists in times like this when we don't understand or we could just hold hands. (Rainbow8, I thought about you here.)

(Chorus)
You and me
Me and you
Where you go I'll go, too.
I'm with you
I'm with you
Till your heart finds a home
I won't let you feel alone
I'm with you
I'm with you, with you

You do your best to build a higher wall.
To keep love safe from every wrecking ball.
When the dust is cleared you will, see the house that love rebuilt, guarding beauty that lives here still.

(Chorus)
It's you and me
Me and you
Where you go I'll go, too.
I'm with you
I'm with you.
Till your heart finds a home, I won't let you feel alone, I'm with you, I'm with you.

Who can say I'm left with nothing?
When I have all of you, all of you, yeah.
In the way you've always loved me.
I remember, He does too.

(Chorus)
It's you and me
Me and you
Where you go I'll go, too.
I'm with you
I'm with you
Until your heart finds a home, I won't let you feel alone, I'm with you, I'm with you.
