i put a trigger cause its about religion. and if this is in the wrong spot, i apologize...wasnt sure where to post it.

for those here that are religious.....i am so uncomfortable by intimacy that i cant even pray. i want to but i just cant. that should be like the ultimate safe relationship right? but i get all embarassed and scared. really struggling, really? embarassed of god being close? is that ridiculous? T is pretty religious but i cant even imagine bringing that up..that is like WAY deep conversation.

how in the world do you become sooooo uncomfortable by closeness and deepness and all those ewwww things that wig me out?!?!?!?!?!

It sounds like you are letting your head/imagination in there too much. I remember when I use to think about praying when I was going to the bathroom, for example

The key to intimacy is to already be good friends with yourself so you aren't embarrassed by yourself. You can laugh at yourself and your mistakes and don't take them "personally" (that they reflect upon you). Stumbling while praying, for example, not being able to find the words; if you get hung up on the "Other" person who is listening and what they're thinking, etc. -- it's not like that.

I have always had a difficult time praying as well. I figure someone who would know everything about me would never want to hear from me.
