my t allows me to email, text, and call between sessions (but i never call). when she knows i am having a hard time, and am anticipating a certain event or situation that is hard for me, she tells me i can contact her if i need a 'pep talk.' in my mind, that means reaching out to her right before i face whatever it is i am facing, for some last minute encouraging words.

that's great and all, and i appreciate it, but from past experiences in reaching out to her it takes her HOURS to get back to me. when she does, it's great, but it's still hours later. that said, how could i ever reach out for a pep talk before something if the chances of me catching her IN TIME are slim to none? i don't get it. it's a nice offer and all, but i don't see how it's realistic. has anyone faced this with their t?

i would probibly call her at least an hour before you need the pep talk and tell her that you need to have her call you back that way even if she is in session or has one soon she will know you need to talk to her soon and maybe will be able to call you inbetween session
