...I'd put in big comfy chairs that I could huddle up in.
What would you do? |

Funny you should ask...my t had such uncomfortable chairs for the first 3 yrs. Honestly, I don't know how she sat in them all day! But just just got a nice new couch! Yay! I was so happy! It's the little things in life...

I'd get rid of her plant. I'm always picking at it (the dead leaves, and brown parts of leaves). She gets upset when I pick at it, and tells me to stop. LOL.

I would change the direction of the photo of her kids so it looks at her, not me.

the two clocks, one above his head, one above mine, that tick-tock with each other and make the silences even worse. One of these days I might just jump up and grab the one above me and pull the battery out..lol

I don't know what man cave smell is - beer and cigars?
I would get rid of the couch and get wooden chairs. |

But it looks like we COULD Fed-Ex some couches and wooden chairs and make everybody here happy, like those huge kidney transplant chains... ![]() |

In this case it's kind of like a pile of dirty laundry. My guess is from the couch cover maybe?

More sitting options... Feeling like his chair facing my chair and the one next to me is getting old.

Well, there is the new ticking clock. My T removed it from the first few sessions, but after her nearly clocking me with it when it slipped from her grasp, I decided that the sound would fade into the background if I gave it a chance. But during silences it can feel like pressure..... tick...tick...tick... talk...talk...talk.
I would move the photo of her cute little granddaughter (who I am slightly jealous of) so it doesn't sit on her left shoulder most of the time, staring right at me. I would make the lighting dimmer. I made a suggestion last session that she hadn't thought of. She has 2 florescent (ugh!!!) ceiling lights, each with 4 bulbs (goooood grief!!), and in addition she has 4 lamps going. I told her if I was at home I would be thinking about nothing but my electric bill . She said she'd prefer lamps, but when she turned off the overheads, it was too dark. So, I suggested having some of the bulbs in the overheads removed, to dim that light. She said she would have never thought of that. So she may do that and she also may get other lamps and just use those, which I would really like ![]() |

I'd take out all the extra chairs. I know they are there for family sessions, but they feel cluttered to me.

I would plant a flowering vine on the building that's right outside her window. The gray brick is so blah and that's the window I stare out when I am thinking or avoiding. The brick makes me feel even more empty.
And I would move the chair I sit in closer to the couch she sits on. Lately it feels like there's too big of a gap there.

I would glue the furniture to the room in the right places so it can't be moved by others who don't move it back. Drives me nuts when I come in and the room is slightly off.

[QUOTE=hankster;2270114]When I first read that, I thought it said CAVE MAN smell! Either way, not good! Send him out for coffee while you hide a girlie Airwick!That would drive me nuts! How does that not drive HIM nuts?! {QUOTE}
LAUGH!!! Thank you for making me laugh. I thought it said CAVE MAN too and I thought how yuck is that. Can't imagine what that smells like. I see my therapist at a hospital, so I don't think it's her private practice office, not sure. It's a small office, so I wish it was bigger...feels a little too close for comfort and not much on the walls for me to focus on. So I wish for a comfy couch and something pretty I can look at. |

There are so many things I'd change about his office. First priority would be the lighting. He has harsh overhead fluorescent lighting and I hate it.
If I got a few extra wishes, I'd change his chairs and the arrangement of them. |

Well, hopefully I'll be changing me
![]() Before that happens though I would like to have some more interesting paintings to look at, not the bland, boring ones she's got in there now.

I love my therapist's office. She does a lot of groups so it's large, but she has it set up like a comfortable and tastefully decorated living room--one large couch, a love seat and two cushioned chairs. I sit on the love seat and she sits in one of the chairs slightly to my left. . .I like that we're not directly face to face
![]() One thing that does make me laugh is that she has three pillows on the large couch across from me and they are always equally spaced across the couch. Once two were piled at one end and when my therapist came in for the session, she smiled and told me she hoped I didn't mind but she had to rearrange them back to their position or she wouldn't be able to concentrate. Love it that she gave me a little peek at her own quirks! |

The one thing I would change...
I often wish he had pillows on the couch, that I could hold. |

I would put HER back in it!! Because then I could make her be home and not so far away.

I'dtake the wood chairs and replace them with a sofa too. My T has moved offices 3 times the 2 years I've been with her and this office is one I can hardly stand to go to. For the first 4 months or so, I would just shiver thinking about going in there. Of course, it doesn't help that the office she's in now reminds me of my mothers house.
