So a few months ago I posted about deciding to switch pdocs to one closer to home. Just wanted to give an update on that. So far, so good. The new pdoc kept me on the same meds, though he has a different opinion on my diagnosis, though he hasn't officially changed it yet. As he puts it, my current diagonsis of Psychotic Disorder NOS isn't really a diagnosis and means "You're psychotic, but I have no clue why." He seemed to hint at schizophrenia instead, but then ruled it out after asking a few more questions. Then he suggested delusional paranoia, but then said he wasn't going to change anything yet. That was at my visit in January. At the end of that visit he said come back in 6-8 weeks (this was a surprise to me as my old pdoc wanted to see me monthly). I had my 2nd visit about 2 or 3 weeks ago and he seemed to think I was pretty stable, as he told me to come back in 3 months. I'm just a little worried now as I have never gone that long without a check-in on my meds. Any thoughts on this?
In other news my psychologist kind of "knows" my new pdoc and something I told her 2 weeks ago, she asked if I would be willing to tell my pdoc it...I said I was too scared to. She asked if she could tell him for me and I told her she could. I don't know if she did or not. I see her again Tuesday. I haven't gotten a call or anything from my pdoc if she did tell, unless he is waiting till my next visit? Argh, so nerve-wracking. Last edited by Squirrel1983; Mar 25, 2012 at 07:58 PM. I am not sure if pdocs call on their own or not. Could you ask your therapist if she talked to the pdoc? Also, perhaps the therapist could help you decide if you need to check in with pdoc sooner or if you are really seeming stable to her now too?

Just wait until you see your therapist next week and ask what happened then. If you are seeing a therapist and you are stable then why would you need to see the doc.
You are now working on things with your therapist. Which is hard work. You still have support. Consider the break from your doc as a blessing. It is scary when the time gets stretched out. Talk things out with your T. |

I agree with stopdog; I don't think pdocs tend to call on their own. At least mine never has. Definitely ask your therapist about it at your next meeting.

Actually you would need to sign releases with both in order for them to discuss your case. It is a HIPAA safeguard. Oh, and if your meds are working, three months is not unusual at all. Now if things start sliding before then, check in by phone and your pdoc will either make adjustments over the phone or ask you to come in sooner.
