It is similar. Do you like it?

Your T may also do hypnotherapy at some point. Have you asked about this?

Guided imagery is similar but not as deep as hypnosis. For me, guided imagery leaves me very relaxed and hypnosis makes my scalp tingling.
Thanks for this!

In my experience it is kind of like a guided meditation, only I go into a much deeper relaxed state. My T generally asks me to picture a particular place - a beach, a garden, a path... and then some kind of scenario. Sometimes she asks me to imagine a younger self... depends what we're working on. I find it to be very relaxing, very calming, and a positive experience. Not at all scary, and there's no fear of being made to cluck like a chicken or anything like you see on magic shows - you remain aware and in control of what you're doing, what T is saying. I have found hypnotherapy to be a valuable part of my treatment, and I believe it's really helped me. I love it - which is weird, before I tried it I never thought I would, I wasn't expecting it to work for me at all.

I don't think your T would be doing hypnotherapy without discussing it with you. Probably doing guided imagery or other relaxation exercises? They are similar.
