"Other plans" is all the explanation needed.

"Other plans" for me is sometimes just "not being there". It can also mean "plans to stay home to read a book" or "plans to stay home and watch the baseball game" but "other plans" is all that is offered.

Another response I like, and which I offer no details, is that I am unavailable.

I'm scared of this weekend. I'm scared I'm going to see him, but I really want to see him I miss him. I'm so messed up.

I'm scared I'm going to start crying in front of everyone. I'm scared I'm going to binge around all the food.

I'm scared I'm going to get really sad.

I hate all the holidays. I used to love them. I hate them now.

I'm not cranky. I'm just getting so sad. No one in my "family of origin" has even called me. Not even my older sister who I was getting along with okay. She called me two weeks ago after I called and left a few messages and she has clearly gone over to the land of crazy with my mom and little sister. I'm just so sad.

Tonight we're supposed to do Passover at a friend of my mother in law's. Unfortunately, her friend is really cruel to me sometimes. My mother in law says it will be fine and she'll protect me, but I've never actually had anyone in life actually stick up for me. Fortunately, we're going to brunch with just us and my mother in law for Easter and that will be nice. Just feeling really awful today.

I hear that. one time at work a guy yelled at another guy for yelling at me, but it was more like, you can't yell at hankster, only *I* can yell at hankster, find your own patsy. I was like, gee, thanks, you're both morons. this is one reason I do so value the support here.

your T told your husband he couldn't talk to you like that either. there's a new MKAC in the house. this is just this year. there have been a lot of recent changes in both families, right? who knows how it will all shake out.
