This is so true. My t keeps pointing essentially this same thing out to me as I try to get over the fact that a "friend" dumped me when i was hospitalized for overdosing. I know it says "God" but even when you take that out, it's true:

(It's something I found on facebook)

"A true friend is an angel sent by God. A true friend stands by your side through the bad as well as the good and loves you when you don't love yourself"

But can we blame the "friend" or are we picking "friends" that we unconsciously know will repeat the abandonment we feel?

I had no idea this friend would abandon me. We were very close, but as soon as i was hospitalized, she would no longer and still won't talk to me. that is on her.

I'm so sorry for your pain, which I can relate to. Two years ago today, after I shoplifted and was arrested (something that had never happened before), my best friend of 12 years stopped talking to me. Just altogether stopped, no explanation, nothing. She lives on a different continent, so I never see her and no chance of bumping into her, either... Maybe no one will always stick by us, but ourselves...
