H and I are starting marriage counseling with my T. We've only had one session, but this is going to be fun! (in a good way -- though not easy -- I'm weird, I know)
T spent a lot of the first session getting to know my H and observing how we interact. It will be interesting to talk to T in individual therapy about some of this crossover stuff. Just wanted to share. I'm pretty excited and feeling much more settled. |

Very good! My T does marriage therapy with us as well as being my husband's T and my son's T. It is kind of cool to be on this journey together and have a T who not only knows us as individuals, but he really gets the whole family dynamics. Hope it continues to be a fruitful endeavor for you.

My previous individual therapist refused to do marriage counseling for my husband and me. He said it created a different dynamic and could create the appearance that T and I were aligned against my husband.
I'm glad for you, though! Hope it goes well. |

My T did couples therapy a while back with me and my H. It worked well. My T is a family systems therapist and is trained to work with different combinations of people within the same family. It can work really well or it can be a bust. Sounds like you are off to a good start. Hope it continues to go well.
