Firstoff, lemmie say that i appreiate all thewarm wishes. I just tead them right now and it really warmend m hy hear all your caring messaeges.

What happened wa I was at the regualr pdoc appt and really let him lno how low i was really feeling. He said he would personally drve me to a hosp, i have private ins, but his reseptionist was out that day so he couldnt;. The cops were called. One was very nice, talking to me, the other transported me and was so rude. He sreached y belongings and he handcuffed me and put me in the back on the cop car.

Regardless of private insurance or not, they send all to a county hopital. NIGHTMARE!!!! I got there they assured me I would be transferred to a private hospital. It took 6 hours to see their pdoc. i had to sleep in a chair. They finally transferred me to the same hospitals psych ward. Wasnt much different except they had a room for me with a bed that i was happy aboou. They told me theyre trying to transfer me & working on the psprreork. 72 hrd were up but the pdoc n duty put me on a 14 day hold based on my history. The didnt change anyting re: my meds, exactly the same, only adde4 4mg klonopin instead of 3. Thats is.. She said my lithium levels were 1400 which she admitted were too high, nut idnt want to chage them. There wsd no onr to tslk to, no thrtspidt, group, nothing@ I spent all day n my room crying/sleeping. I called my tdoc and pdoc and cried so bad for the to get me transferred and finally SOMETHNIMG happemed cause i got released today at 1pm/

My tdoc came and saw me to talk and see how i was doing yesterday at 7pm which was nice, I couldnt believ he did that. My pdoc is o vacay and will be back on Mon though I left a few choice voicemails for him!

I d0ny know if this is how psych wards are supposed to by, but my experiemce was horrible
1 the only reason that they let me go cause my dad said he will stay with me (which is a lie, and my therapit said hell keep a close eye on me...he had a sesh with me today at 6 and will see me on thurs
sorry for the misspellings, im still very heavily medicated...ive falled over twife already lol!

Thanks so much for caring giuys It does mean a whole lot to me ad i missed you giys and this place!!

If pdoc had been able to take you, you might have been treated better

Searched? OK. That was sensible precaution. But handcuffs?! Unbelievable.

I agree, handcuffs are extreme. You aren't a criminal and you didn't do anything wrong. It is ridiculous that people seem to get punished for being honest about their feelings. This is why myself (and I am sure many others) are afraid of revealing too much.

I am glad they let you out and I hope you feel better soon! Take care of yourself

The handcuff thing seems so wrong to me. If you were having a heart attack or a burst appendix, would they handcuff you? Hope you are safe but away from the hospital.

handcuffs?! I don't the justification for that! I had to go in handcuffs my last time, too, and there was nothing combative about me ..... the cops just seemed to think it was necessary since I wasn't thrilled about going, but I wasn't fighting them either. It was humiliating. So I'm sorry you went through all that. You sound sort of over-medicated to me, though.....I hope your meds get straightened out.

Yeah, but handcuffs are policy if you're being transported in a cruiser. They did it to me too. I complained and they said I should have had my feet shackled too per policy, but they were being nice. The nurse gave the officer one of those "knowing" looks when she realeased me into their custody. I was trying to hide my handcuffs with a jacket. When they put me in the backseat I fell over crying and hiding, feeling humiliated. The officer said, "it's not that bad". It was a voluntary hospitalization, and I couldn't have been more compliant, but I guess that happens if you go through the ER, maybe.

It is standard to have handcuffs if an officer has to transport in his vehicle. I know a sheriff's deputy who would take people to the nearest psych hospital 2 hours away and he said he was required to do so.

Vanessa, I'm glad you're out.

Well I'm still disgusted that a citizen who is not even suspected of a crime can be treated in that fashion.
"Policy" doesn't make it right.

Let me guess: "It's for your own protection".

it happened to me too when I was 15 and I was taken to the hospital.

The cop that took me was nice though. He put on a radio station and didn't try to make me talk. He said sorry, but I have to it's the rules. I'll put them on loose.

They didn't make me stay at the hospital though. I felt really terrible about the handcuffs, I'm sorry if you do too. I hope things get better now.

If you have not tried a lot of med combos yet, try more! ECT should only be ussed as a a very last resort.
