next week is my first shift back since april 8... anxiety is building in my subconscious & acting as fuel to the fire - has been causing some cycling today... i know, i KNOW that going back to work will be good for me... to be out, to have more routine back in my schedule, to be social & around people again... but even though i KNOW all that logically, emotionally it doesn't seem to quell the nerves... i've always had anxiety about going back... back to school, back to work, etc... frustrates me that i haven't figured out a way to deal with it... think i'm going to go make some honey vanilla chamomile tea and try to chill out a bit so i can unwind enough to go to bed... hopefully my anxiety won't follow me into my dreams...

we'll both make it... i'm sure of that... it's just a matter of sucking it up and getting back in there for that first day... and just take it one shift at a time... one hour at a time...

Good luck! Whe I went back to work before, the first hour or so was the hardest, as the day went one, it got easier. The second was almost fine!
Could you go in with someone, like meet before work for breakfast wit a coworker and go to work together. Just an idea.
Take care.
Thanks for this!

It's great you are ready to go back to work. Good luck with it and try to be easy with with yourself for awhile as you get back into the swing of things.
Thanks for this!

Returning to work after being out for medical leave is a very tough thing to do. But you can do it. When I went back to work, I had to start off with part time. Then I went full time after 2 wks. It still took about six months before I felt a sense of being "ok" with just being there. My leave was caused by work burn-out so that was a big factor. I have been back almost 2 yrs now and I am still not where I was before the breakdown. And I don't think I will ever be the same person.

But what I did learn is that it is OK for me to not be who I was. And it is OK to go very slowly and take your time. Don't push yourself. Give yourself plenty of internal space and rest. Take a lot of breaks. And know you are not alone.
