I know I haven't been on here as much lately and some of it is because I am finding myself exhausted as of late and unable to be of much help. I was extremely tired when I got to session. T noticed it immediately and I saw it in her. It's not something either one of us seem to be able to hide. I saw her stifle a yawn twice, then finally told her, "I know therapists aren't supposed to yawn at clients, but would you just go ahead and yawn already? I'm afraid your head is going to explode." She burst out laughing then said, "Oh, thank you so much," then proceeded to yawn huge.
Since we were both so tired, we didn't delve into anything deep. I told her how my weekend went and that Friday I realized this: http://forums.psychcentral.com/showthread.php?t=224303. She wrote that down. She said that head knowledge becoming heart knowledge is a huge revelation. I also told her about my mom finally agreeing to take Prozac for her depression. She did ask why I was so tired and I told her I was still having dreams that bothered me. We talked about that for a bit. They still seem to be about things I think I need to process. I asked T, "So what now? I'm learning boundaries. I'm starting to become a new person. Do I talk about the boundary work? Do I talk about stuff from the past? What's next?" She said that what we would do now is just start talking about whatever it is I want to talk about from the past. She likened it to digging in the trash for something. I can start talking about something that's traumatizing to me. We examine it to see if it was just a lesson to be learned at the time (in which case, we toss it aside), or if it causes me to have maladaptive and/or unhealthy behavior or thought patterns today (in which case, we delve into it until we find the "root" of the problem. Once we find that root, then we can look into changing the unhealthy behavior/thought patterns into healthy ones). That was pretty much it. Then we shot the breeze until session was over. She hugged me and told me to get some rest. I told her to do the same.

Chopin, I'm sorry you have been having trouble sleeping due to all the dreams...
Thanks for sharing so much about what your T says... its helpful to hear about the process of talking about the past... I hope you start sleeping better soon. |

Weird thing is, my current friends, husband, and T tend not to show up in my dreams. Guess they aren't causing me any problems! ![]()
