Me: If my feelings about my mother are tangled up with my feelings about you, how can I make any progress? Wouldn't it be better to separate, catalogue, simplify?

T: By misdirecting those feelings at me, you make them realer. Feelings about your mother will be more accessible because you have transferred them. You mother is in this room.

It goes against my intuition, but she is the expert and she has achieved results.

Therefore I believe her.

Its only in hindsight when a traference has occurred, been worked throu do you see what has gone on. You can't always understand/be aware of transference until experience of it has been had.

I've had t/mother transference since the start and I've been aware of it for at least five years.

But knowing about it doesn't stop it from working.
Also, I'm not fighting it any more.

Yes, it's out of your head/heart/body and into the room; you can't work with your mother on past things so you have a stand-in in your T. Think of how many years you lived with your mother? Now, how many years have you been with T? (My T did that when I complained about my husband's behavior; "how many years did his mother have him. . .and how many years have you known him")

I don't really get the whole transference thing totally, but I don't think T represents my mother or my father.

In eleven years, T wins!
