For anyone who is like me and been in and out of psychiatric hospitals, there is a place in Edmonds Washington that is what a mental health hospital should be. It is intensive therapy, but you stay in condos and walk to the facility for a full day of groups and individual therapy. This place saved my life. It is a longer term facility. Meaning you don't just go for a few days to get stable you stay for weeks at a time. They don't just focus on your mental health, they focus on your entire body. They have medical staff and the groups are amazing! Honestly, this place is better then any hospital out there. They actually care about getting you better and not just stable or drugged. Im providing a link. I was there for 6 weeks and I wish I could go back for a vacation. THe people I met there were the greatest people I have ever met. I made some awesome friends while there and did not intend on it. So please check it out especially if you are suffering.

I'm glad you were able to stay somewhere like that; and that it was such a great place for you to be

Probably not covered by most people's insurance. My pdoc wanted to me go to a similar facility here in Texas a few years ago. Insurance of course was a no go. The 60,000 - 80,000 pricetag was way too rich for my blood. Glad you had the opportunity for a long-term placement. That is pretty unusual anymore.

"Financial plans" for that kind of fee, you'd be paying forever. I still have insanely high bills from just being on a psych floor at our local hospital. I can';t imagine the "financial plans" would help too much for me

It sounds good. I looked for information at the website on the cost, but there was none. It just said to call a phone number to get information on the cost. I wish they would just put the cost on the web site where everyone can see it.

It sounds like an amazing place and I am glad you got the help you needed. I don't know if it would be covered by my health plan and I think with my student loans I don't think I would be able to afford any more financial plans. However kudos to you and congratulations on your recovery and I am really happy you had a good experience there. Looks like a wonderful place. Thanks for sharing!

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I've been out playing today. The clinic is in Houston, The Menniger Clinic. I'll attach a link. They list the costs, etc., on the website. Nice virtual tour to look at which I think is new since I was last on the site; it's been several years since my pdoc was trying to find a way to get me there. Seems to be very reputable and associated with well-known and respected hospitals in the Houston area.

hm this is very interesting.

in 2007 i got out of a 4th or 5th hospital stay. i live around dfw so i was actually sent to a residential treatment facility in needville,tx just outside of houston, right below sugarland or some maybe 20 miles below it, w/e. anyway...its close to that place in comparison to say where i am at now. home.

FulshearRanchAcademy.com i believe.

if thats not the site, google the name...and type houston,tx or something...you cant miss it.

story short...i was NOT NOT NOT happy about the place OR about RTC. i wasnt accepted because they said i needed to want to come. thank you jesus. that actually scared my own mind right out of hospitals period for 3 years I GUESS HAHAH.

idk anyway, its an all girls equine therapy style ranch outside of houston/sugarland, tx for ages 18-24.
maybe they had a waiting list? idk. but thank you jesus.
i think my mother was actually trying to send me away and they told her itd be too expensive if i didnt even want to succeed to be there.

thanks for responding!
