I've been seeing my current therapist for nearly a year. Originally I started seeing her because of problems that I now see were alcohol related. I've been sober for 1 year in June and have been in AA since November. I guess she thinks this was my major issue and asked me last week what I wanted to achieve with her. I said I don't think we've tackled any of my childhood issues, family issues that were a big reason for my drinking. But I also told her I know I hadn't been telling her things. She asked if I thought I needed to see someone else or a drug/alcohol counselor.

I know I will talk to someone but not unless I'm pushed and challenged to. As long as she just lets me keep saying everything's fine, I won't just freely talk. If I do need to see someone else, it will take me a long time to open up to them and I know I'll have a hard time ending things with my current therapist. Just not sure what to do here!

Have you told her you need to be pressed and challenged more? Many Ts will respond to that.
