I've been seeing my current therapist for nearly a year. Originally I started seeing her because of problems that I now see were alcohol related. I've been sober for 1 year in June and have been in AA since November. I guess she thinks this was my major issue and asked me last week what I wanted to achieve with her. I said I don't think we've tackled any of my childhood issues, family issues that were a big reason for my drinking. But I also told her I know I hadn't been telling her things. She asked if I thought I needed to see someone else or a drug/alcohol counselor.
I know I will talk to someone but not unless I'm pushed and challenged to. As long as she just lets me keep saying everything's fine, I won't just freely talk. If I do need to see someone else, it will take me a long time to open up to them and I know I'll have a hard time ending things with my current therapist. Just not sure what to do here! |
