Do any of you get anxious before a session - I've been seeing my T for a couple of years but still get really anxious before each session - once there and chatting I'm fine, its just the morning before i go that i struggle!

Has anyone got any suggestions of how to reduce the anxiety prior to my session?

Many thanks

I get really anxious before my sessions, but I haven't been going that long (about 3 months). Unfortunately, I don't have the any idea how to reduce the anxiety before sessions... just wanted you to know that you're not alone!

My appt is late morning each week...so I usually distract myself with PC and leave myself too little time to shower and dress, so I am rushed with no time to think. lol. it works, because I used to always have big panic attacks before T. I also always take an ativan just before I go in.

Not before every single appointment, but for a lot of them I do feel anxious.. Over various reasons. I get scared about would will be brought up, if the appointment will cancelled or how late T will be, or I have the wrong date or time, etc.

I am always anxious before my sessions, it starts the day before and it just builds, I have been seeing my T for a year now, I find a good walk around town before my session window shopping then I always end up rushing to get there on time.

I've been seeing t for just over 9 months and get anxious every time. Sometimes it starts the day before, other times a few hours. I am pretty much worthless at work the hour before t. Often I don't eat lunch those days or if I do it is followed with a hefty dose of TUMS. Once I am in session a few minutes I settle a bit.

I totally get very anxious before sessions, especially when I do know in advance what we will be talking about because then it is something more serious versus talking about something that may have happened during the previous week. I definitely have tried to implement a routine before I go, either time with a friend or just quiet time to gather my thoughts, listen to good music, etc. I have also found it helpful to get there earlier rather than rush to have time to calm myself down in the waiting room before I actually go back, practice some deep breathing, try to relax and tell myself it will be ok

I also experience anxiety before session, some days worst then others. I often am shaky in the waiting room. I usually have session first thing in the morning so I dont have to be at work before hand or else I would be useless. I find listening to music in the waiting room before session helps a bit, and try not get there early as to minimize the waiting time.

I get nervous before sessions as well. I'll be sitting in the waiting room, fidgeting, heart racing, nervous stomach. Almost always, as soon as I sit down and start talking to T, I feel better. Once in a great while, I'll stay anxious and that's usually when I have something to talk about that I don't really want to talk about. I don't feel better until I get it out, but sometimes (like this morning) I just can't. So, I stay anxious.

I get anxious before AND during (LOL. I suffer from GAD). Doesn't happen every single time, though. I guess it's just me not being used to open up.

I often throw up before an appointment and spend the first five to ten minutes of each appointment feeling like my chest is going to explode and can't hear well because of the pounding in my ears. Walking up her stairs, my legs are like heavy rubber. I have been seeing the woman for a year and a half.

i go at night and the few hours before the appt, i am just sitting and waiting for t to call and cancel. he has only cancelled one time but i keep waiting for it to happen again. sometimes i really wish he would but i know i would see it as rejection....and that he hates me.
some days i am pathetic!!! sorry.
