..........I am asking cause I have not heard from my T in two and a half months and wondered if I should start calling again....then I thought that it is a long time maybe too long to even make it work again. (
Whats the longest break you have taking and what is difficult when you returned? ( Maybe due to a ruture) Also I wonder if it is part of a healthy relationship both in and outside of therapy to just go months without speaking and then getting back together again? Maybe with friends due to being busy and stuff but what about a love relationship or in therapy wich tends to mimic it a bit? |

I took a 6 year break between T1 a nd T2, and took a 12 year break between T2 and T3. The changes in T's were due to moving, etc.

i have been with the same t, i took lots of breaks, six months. two years, nine months.
i always went back and t was okay with me doing that. he even suggested it when i asked about termination at one point. he obviously knows me better than i know myself. i go to t, when i feel better i don't go so much, then when things get worse, i go back to weekly sessions like now. talk to t, find out what works for you and t |

I just decided to take a break from my current T. I had only taken breaks between T's in the past.
When you say you haven't heard from your T in 2 1/2 months, do you mean there was some kind of agreement that he/she would contact you to schedule an appointment? I think that therapy can pick back up where it left off a lot easier than it can in other relationships, because your T is focused on your progress. It sounds like you're wanting more contact, so I think it would make sense to see about scheduling an appointment. |

4 weeks, and that was recently, and it wasn't difficult when I returned, but I was going through some very difficult things. Clearly floored her when I unloaded what had happened earlier that very day.
I know when I joined the Army the forced break in my marriage actually seemed to help our relationship.

I took a 4 year break between T2 and T3 (current T) due to me moving.
Not sure I really should have taken that break, but I also don't think I was ready, when I first moved, for my current T and the work we are doing.
