Same here. I can imagine him making a mistake of getting something wrong at some point, but I can't imagine him deliberately telling me something that was not true. |

None of my T's has ever lied to me. Even if I did not agree with their conclusions or beliefs about me and/or my life experience, I wouldn't see their statements as a lie.
There was a time when my current T referred to me as a "nice husband." I challenged her on it but this is her belief, not necessarily the truth. As she would fully agree-- whatever she believes about who or what I am is not about the truth, but about what she sees. |

None of my T's have ever told me a lie that I'm aware of. None of them have ever made promises as far as I remember. That would just be setting up a problem since no one can predict what may come up to change circumstances. They've made observations about me that I didn't agree with at the time, but that was because of my issues. Those observations weren't lies.

I don't think my T has ever lied to me. Promises are so alluring in a lot of ways; I would hope that T's who make them are doing so in an attempt, however misguided, to be helpful. But I would also hope that they have enough training not to make them in the first place, especially since I'd guess that a lot of us have struggled with others' broken promises.

I've had a few Ts lie to me over the years, although I was not particularly close to any of them.
I saw a T while I was in middle school who recommended that I try wearing makeup to boost my self-esteem (which is a stupid idea to begin with). So I got some eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow, and lipstick on and went to school the next day... Everyone stared at me amazed... People kept asking me how I got the black eyes... "Did you run into the same door twice?" I was sitting at the lunch table alone as I did every day, and that T approached me. She said, "whoswho, you look very pretty today." Yeah right, T, yeah right.

And I thought I was the only one whose T told me to wear makeup because it would make me feel less depressed (this was in college). I didn't see her for much longer after that.

I think it needs to be handled like this:
T: What would you look like if you weren't depressed? You: I would wear X T: Can I ask you, just as an experiment, to put on X for next time I see you?
