i havent been in a while. and emailed today. it was a while too. was just asking about something. not about sessions. and she said she wanted to give it to me as a gift. what is right to do. is this one of those things where you say thank you. but shouldnt accept. i dont want to take advantage.

1 free session is hardly taking advantage. It is up to you, if you are comfortable with it is fine.

Yes, I would accept as well.
I think T is probably thinking that if you are reaching out to him/her, that maybe there's some more work to be done. It's hard to directly ask for the things we need sometimes, so I think they are trying to make it is easy as possible for you to get more help, if that's something you need. |

You do not have to take care of the therapist. If the therapist offered something you want or need, you may take it without worry about the therapist.

First, always do what is right for you. Follow your own heart.
It is my personal opinion that a gift can be very healing. It honors the giver for the person who is offered a gift to accept it with grace.

Hm I say take it... My T just offered to keep seeing me if my sessions ran out. Insurance might only give me 60 session yearly cap, divided by 2 sessions a week...basically means he'd be seeing me 60 sessions for free. He wouldn't have offered if he couldn't or didn't want to. Just my view.
