So I got a new tattoo to represent all the struggles I've been through the last few years. My stepfathers sui, abuse, self harm, and dealing with my ptsd and bipolar disorder. T liked the concept, and the tattoo. I figured I'd attach a pic and see if you all agree. She's pretty beat up looking, but she has a smile, hopefully that means brighter days are ahead.

Beautiful!

I have a tatto drawn up I want to have done. It's an angel that looks worn out but still beautiful. I would like to think she is my gaurdian angel.

I have a few tattoo's and my T has asked me about them and seems to enjoy them, She is jewish and I think that is a big no-no.

cute! it kinda reminds me of the fake Snuggle tv commercial, where a tank crashes into the laundry room and poor Snuggles is chased, run over, catches on fire, and literally gets the stuffing knocked out of him my fave ad ever!

You got inked! It's really nice, good artist. Is this your first? I can't tell the location or how big it is. Very sweet.

Oh no its my 6th its about 3 inchs and its on my forearm. The artist was my best yet. AND his wife is bipolar so he took his time and worked especially hard when I told him I was, and the meaning.

That's so cute, Lost!

I've been seriously thinking (for a few years) about getting a line from my favourite poem (that really relates to my struggles and healing) tattooed too! I'm now old enough to legally get it, but the positioning I want is going to be highly visible, so people are discouraging me. We'll see though!

All my tattoo's are highly visible. I was a military cop, and now a EMT. Tattoo's are now widely accepted. I have one on my hand. The rest are on my forearms. I say go for it.

I like it, reminds me of the tattoo that one of my friend's daughter got to express her feelings and struggles..

Lost, I love it! The bear is so cute and I really like what it represents. I'm glad you were able to show your T and that he was supportive.

I love tattoos, especially when they have personal significance. The biggest issue I've dealt with in my own therapy is growing up without a mother, and then working through maternal transference my T. Finally, I feel like I've come out the other side. So, in January, I got a tattoo that says, in Latin, "Filiae sine matre intus est potestas" or "the motherless daughter's power lies within." I showed it to my T, too Although, showing it to her took a little manuevering since it's on my ribcage, next to my breast.
Thanks for this!

i got an ill-advised tattoo of a butterfly on my hip when i was 18 which i was thinking of covering up until my T told me that the butterfly is a symbol of the spiritual side of psychiatry. i thought that was sweet.
Thanks for this!

No way I have a butterfly too! But that has a different meaning.

I love it!! I got my first (and so far, only) tat last year after I began this round of T. I wanted something simple and small, but something very meaningful to me, of course. I got the chinese characters for freedom on the inside of my ankle, because I'm on a journey toward freedom. I've made lots of progress so far, I think, and seeing my tat every day reminds me of how far I have come and how much more work I have to do. I'm glad you also found a way to symbolize your struggle in such an awesome way
Thanks for this!

I love it! I have one tattoo and have been seriously considering getting a koi (in East Asian culture, a symbol of perseverance, has other more personal meanings to me as well) in the spot where I used to SI. Yours is awesome and so meaningful.
Thanks for this!

I don't have any ink yet...but I do want to. I have a large si scar on my forearm that I would like to cover up, but I haven't been able to sketch out anything I like yet. I want it to symbolize "beauty for ashes".
