I honestly think it just takes a particular kind of individual to do what they do all day every day. That kind of compassion and acceptance can't be learned in a classroom. Must be their gift I think, and they were fortunate enough to channel that gift into the right profession for them. Quite a blessing for them and for us, isn't it?
Thanks for this!

I was thinking about that this morning. How do they do it hour after hour, with all different kinds of problems? It's really kind of amazing and I'm very grateful that there are people like our Ts who can do it and even seem to thrive on it.

I think about this a lot. It is remarkable how the right people find their way into the right profession somehow. Even within professions I see this. I mean, for the life of me, I cannot see how anyone in their right mind could spend their entire day with a room full of kindergardners, but they do; and most of us secondary teachers consider elementary teachers to be saints. Or, people who work with the sick or disabled or dying. Or, those who choose to run into burning buildings with only regard for rescuing others. Or, a million other things. People just have remarkable gifts and have been blessed enough to be able to use those gifts daily. I just find that amazing and remarkable and always a blessing when I run into those kind of people in my life. One of the true wonders of life.

Like Confuscius said, "Find work you love and you'll never work a day in your life."

I think its because they have passion. Me... i love computers. I would guess that the passion I feel when i am mucking about with a computer would be similar to the passion that a T feels when talking about feelings with clients. And then they would also get a "hit" of passion whenever something important happens, eg a client has some kind of breakthrough. That "hit" would last them through the down times, I bet, and then eventually they get another "hit" of passion from the next breakthrough or realisation.

I know drug references are bad but that was the only word I could come up with that gets the meaning across, lol.

I believe it's their character. My younger brother confides in me about most things, and when he told me about his 1st time he asked 'why are you so calm about this? where's the judgement?' I was kinda shocked, he said I'm always calm and neutral, and he didn't understand it not that, that's the 'worst' story I've heard, but yeah, I think character plays a role.

I honestly believe it is a gifting. They learned about it, and honed it, but the compassion was there to begin with I think.

They are trained. I don't see them as all that compassionate and non- judgmental, but if they are, it is training.
