One recurrent topic in particular is a general fear of our own therapist being curious and reading the board, and recognising us as their client.

For that reason, if there are any therapists here, they are probably not going to participate as a `known` therapist/psychologist.

This has been a concern of mine. There is even something that occurred on Monday that I would like to post, but if by some small chance my T was on here then he would know that it was me.
In one way I think it would be helpful to here the T's side of things, but I also know that I might be freaked out if I knew that my T was on here.

I know most T's dont have the time to go on here. My T works from like 8-8 most days and tries to have a family life with his kid AND put up with clients with me who contact him throughout his time off with crisis/emergency situations a lot. He has assured me I am not the only guilty client. He told me he gets up to 80 emails a day. I may count for 5 or 6.

Now after ALL that if he had time to go on forums and find my posts I would probably laugh, because he could figure me out in about a second.

Anyway even if there are a few lurking like the others said it would make posters unsteady about sharing there experiences and they are smart enough to know that.
Thanks for this!

Some here are T's -- usually those who are at the same time in therapy, so being here is not totally out of place.

My T visits PC frequently. I dont know if she reads the blogs or the forums though. If she is on the forums and finds me then that just means more transparency for me. The more she knows about me, the more she is able to help me

Actually, there are quite a few therapists (not sure about psychologists specifically) that are part of PC. I think there is a section on the forum just for them that is private. Some of them are in therapy and they share here and ask for help sometimes, too. Stormyangels is one member who openly shares that she is a therapist and is also in therapy, as well.

I have never worried about my T coming here. He has a very busy and separate life outside of work and spending all day doing therapy at work and then coming home and getting on a board and reading more about it in the evening is just not his style. He would much rather spend his spare time with his girlfriend, riding his bike, spending time with his kids and grandkids, etc. A life outside of work is a high priority for him.

If he did come, he'd know me in a second but it's not like he doesn't know these things about me anyway. I just don't tend to get to paranoid about it. I yam what I yam.

Ok Popeye.

I have seen a couple of people refer to themselves as T's on this forum, but few and far between. I am sure T's deal with enough clients and MI during the day, why would they want to hang here and deal with more? I think that they might find the PC site useful though.

Ooh. I HATE yams! Had a bad experience with a yam once.

Unless a T is pretty new to the business, I can't see why coming here (unless they are still in the throws of their own intensive therapy as a patient) would be that interesting really. I mean, their own patients with their own stories and those one-to-one therapy relationships would be far more stimulating, probably stimulating enough to give them their "fix" of therapy for the day. I mean, I don't go home after a long day of teaching and go on teaching forums to hear about more people teaching all day or to read about students griping about their teachers (). I wouldn't see the appeal. Now, if I want to go on a professional website for ideas for my OWN students that's one thing, but that would rarely be in the form of a forum and wouldn't at all need to be a regular thing. To read threads about it just would have no appeal (and yes, I've looked at teacher forums and they really are just more of what I see and hear all day -- very much not what I want to spend my spare time reading). I want to rest in the evenings and to get out of my teacher role for a few hours. I have to have that time to recharge for the next day. I would think most people work the same way about their own profession. I'm not certain consuming yourself 24/7 with your profession is really a healthy idea honestly.
Thanks for this!

I did not find this forum until I hit bottom with my depression. As someone else said on here, when I was practicing, I had little to no time to look on message boards...and everyone here is so anonymous that a therapist "figuring out" who is making these posts is very unlikely...This is a great place to get help.
