***Trigger for mention on abuse and religious content***[/COLOR]

Does anyone else get terrible dreams after trying to confront past CSA events?
I sometimes do.... it's like punishment for trying to tell or trying to remember details. Horrific dreams with blood and evil things like the devil etc So sorry if this is too much info for some people but i'm feeling very vulnerable right now.

I think how our inner world gets thought/dreamt about is a refelection of the outside world. After talking about awful events it's bound to stir up horrific feelings & thoughts. Dreaming in that context is a kind of emotional vent. Quite normal.

I have nightmares frequently and they can get worse when dealing with the therapist.

I have nightmares frequently, and they have coincided with therapy.

Yep. Wicked, horrible dreams. Mine are sometimes worse when I'm trying not to talk about a certain area or thing. Almost like some part of me WANTS it all out and will make me miserable until I just get it over with and talk about it. Then sometimes, it's fine and not something I dream about until after I tell. Ah. The joys of therapy and reliving our childhoods, eh?
Thanks for this!

Yeah, horrific dreams where I can wake the house up with my piercing screams. They seem to have stopped for now although they're still not nice dreams but I had one every night for months up til about a month ago.
Thanks for this!

I haven't even begun to discuss this stuff with my Therapist, i skirt around it in therapy but even then it's enough to give me terrible dreams. Sick depraved nightmares.

When I first brought up my CSA with my T, I had a couple of weeks of nightmares about being killed. Luckily, it didn't last too long.

Yes, I think all one's worst fears think they can surface and jockey for position the minute you mention anything making them think you might consider them.

I get terrible dreams when I think about confronting abuse.

My heart aches for you because I know your pain.

When I had the nightmares I used to wonder what would happen if I ever verbalized the abuse, once I talked about some of it - only a little bit and I was so depressed I couldn't get out of bed for two days and the dreams were horrifying.

I hope you can find a safe place. Sometimes it helps to sleep in a closet... that always helped me, sleeping in my closet wrapped up in blankets - hidden.

Also, when I get really stressed or when I'm close to confronting a serious stressful issue I have visual hallucinations.. I turn on the water and see blood or I see people. Stress and anticipation when approaching trauma drives the brain wild.
